seethingblue's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- paper lanterns ankles are so fragile, I think to myself as I fold straw wrappers into tiny accordians and Japanese paper lanterns. I always wanted to set a paper boat on the water and watch it slide along the current until it escapes my view. But there are many things I may never do. The ice cream cold has settled across my invisible lake, where the grass has yellowed and mirrored the branches, cracking along the earth. Everything is balding and graying before me, I think as she slides into the booth, a long, wispy black skirt and tiny feet crossed delicately at the ankle. We play with our straws and pretend to be world-famous writers who know how to ice skate with our eyes closed. 14:36 - 03 March, 2003 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
